"As one of the warmest and driest regions in the state, the Wahluke Slope is known primarily for red grape varieties, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon. Wahluke Slope wines tend to be ripe and full-bodied with pure varietal fruit flavors. Wahluke Slope has the second longest growing season in terms of total heat units in the state, rivaling just behind Red Mountain. “Grapes that require long growing seasons to achieve maximum and intense flavors are especially unique for this area, including Cabernet Sauvignon.

The entire Wahluke Slope appellation sits on a large alluvial fan, which has a constant, gentle grade of less than 8%. Elevations vary between 425 feet above sea level by the Columbia River, which forms the western boundary, to 1,480 feet, though most vineyards lie below 1,000 feet. The Cabernet showcases beautiful fruit and structure from the long growing season found in this region.
