three Gather Red Blend Contra Costa County, CA
✌From Matt Cline, Owner and Winemaker:
"dirt MATTer’s…
Our Gather Red Blend is a classic example of our philosophy that winemaking is all about, “the dirt, the micro-climate, and don’t screw it up!” The grapes sourced for this wine are from plantings in and around the Bay Area town of Oakley, in the north-east corner of Contra Costa County. It is a blend of 64% Carignane, 26% Petite Sirah, 4% Mataro, 4% Black Malvoisie, and 2% Alicante Bouschet. All of the grapes in this blend come from vineyard blocks with extremely sandy-loam soils called Delhi loam. Carignane from the Lucchesi Vineyard dominates this field blend. It adds structure, color, cherry, and black fruit flavors. There is a deep concentration of ripe black cherries and spice with a minerality (earthy berry) flavors sneaking through. The mouth-feel is rich and balanced with a lingering peppery finish from a healthy dose of Petite Sirah" Only 1,257cs produced. ❣️
